Re: Calling all Real World Pilots

Yes, in your case the TT is the most important. 200 + ME would be nice but you should have no problem getting that as you build your TT, begin ME instruction and continue to add the approx 5 hrs months you are accruing now.

Cheers

Re: Calling all Real World Pilots

Isaac, Based on that I would suggest getting started on your CFI/II/MEI as soon as possible. This is the most efficient way to build time quickly and it's experience that most 121 regional carriers value. You should also continue to to build time with your current flying opportunities and you never ...

Re: rates of climb, Training tip

Hey Greg, Pretty cool concept maintaining speed and varying rate of climb. Is there a benefit from this in the form of economy or performance somehow? Chris it's mainly performance based which in most cases optimizes economic efficiency. The basic physics behind this is that a wing has a sweet spot...

Re: Calling all Real World Pilots

Isaac what type of job do you want? Are you looking at flying for a career or something supplemental/part time? The advice I'd offer would be based on where you want to end up. Also you have a Comm/Multi but do you also have your Instrument Rating? Most do but since it is possible to get a Comm/Mult...

Re: rates of climb, Training tip

Our standard climb profiles at SkyWest are: CRJ200 - 250KIAS to 10,000, 290KIAS transition at .70 Mach to filed altitude CRJ700/900 - 250KIAS to 10,000, 290KIAS transition at .74 mach to filed altitude Standard descent at .77 mach transition to 300KIAS. In almost ALL cases we are maintaining speeds,...

Re: To be or not to be

You probably do more planning. ;) Dispatchers help us out a lot in the real world, that's for sure. I don't mean to oversimplify, we do a lot of planning, just a different sort of planning because the dispatchers do all the leg work of weather planning, flight planning and filing, etc. In simple te...

Re: Why can't i have that

Something to consider regarding the "realism" and "visual experience" of FS9 or FSX from a guy who spends a decent amount of time flying in the real world. First off the "realism" that is offered by todays flight simulators, at least to me is nothing short of remarkable...

Re: SkyWest Pilot Steals CRJ200

I am based out of SLC but SGU is where out corporate headquarters is. I never flew with this guy; he was a Colorado Springs based captain. Pretty crazy stuff and nobody really knows anymore than the news is reporting. I can see lots of new security measures coming our way as a result of this though....

Re: Subject; TouchDown Rates

At Skywest on occasion due to a variety of reasons we may have to return to our departure airport shortly after takeoff and initiate a landing. Sometime the aircraft due to fuel is over the maximum certified landing weight of the airplane. In most cases as long as our vertical speed (VS) is at 400ft...
