Re: Sudden Loss of Power
It sounds like you handled the situation well. Flew the plane first and then worked out the issue. Nice work :) It could have been icing or turbulence or maybe a lapse in fuel flow. Glad you made it :D The good news for you was that you did have a flame out and it didn't end up in a core lock (core ...

Re: Sudden Loss of Power
I'm sure each airline is has their own specific envelope (all being very conservative) but at SkyWest we define icing conditions as: Taxi/Takeoff - Temp less than 10 deg C OAT (outside air temp) and visible moisture (cloud, rain, snow, mist, fog, etc) In these conditions we run our Cowl anti-ice (en...

Re: Holding for KDEN
Of all the airports I regularly fly into Denver is my least favorite. I will take Jackson Hole in blinding snow, SFO fog so thick you can't see a hand or the chaos that is ORD 365 days a year over dealing with the weather in Denver.
Denver.... worst weather ever!

Re: "Climb Via SID"... New Vatsim Phraseology.
Climb via, descend via, do this except via, let see how confused we can make you via, as we are figuring out our fancy new procedures. That's the way it seems out on the real world side right now with these procedures. In theory they should do 99% of the work and minimize radio chatter but we are no...

Re: Greg's a Real Pistol Today
Hey thanks so very much y'all! It was a wonderful day. For the 1st day of my 45th year I'm back on the road and DEN was all sorts of fun this morning with snow and freezing fog. Oh well, they can't all be sunny visuals. Seriously, thanks so much for the kind wishes! And I will get together another c...

3- When performing a VOR approach, when am I supposed to start the "Before Landing Checklist"? Should I be already at 150 knots, flaps 30, and gear down (ATR 72 500) at the IF of the instrument approach procedure? Before of after it? [For the VOR17 procedure at MMAS I switched from low cr...

Re: A Magnum Birthday
Sorry for the late reply folks. Thank you very much for the kind birthday wishes. Luckily (or not depending on how you look at it) I was not required to fly planes around the country for my birthday and I was able to spend the time lazily with family and friends. I have been collecting some wonderfu...

Re: ERJ APU procedures
Hey David, I can't speak to Eagle's APU procedure but I have some thoughts based on our procedures at SkyWest on the CRJ200 (which is a lot like the ERJ is terms of performance and design). This may provide some food for thought. Not knowing the exact architecture of the ERJ's pressurization and ant...
