B-2 sighting

Post by Michael Blakely »

A few weeks back, we visited some friends who live north of Los Angeles, and then went to a concert with them east of LA. When it was time to go to the concert, traffic in LA was a nightmare, so we decided to take a route through the high desert north of LA, near Edwards Air Force base. This was a good call on two counts. First, traffic was light and we arrived at the concert an hour sooner than if we had gone through LA's freeways. Second, we saw a B-2 flying around the valley at low levels for about 20 minutes.

When the B-2 would turn, the shape was unmistakable. When it would level off, it would disappear. It seemed to bank much faster than a commercial jet. Weather was mostly cloudy, and with no tail and a relatively thin body, it was very difficult to see if it wasn't banking.

I've only seen the B-2 in person twice. Flying straight and level down Colorado Blvd. prior to the New Years Rose Parade, and this sighting in the desert. Both were cool in their own right. New Years it was close, and I could hear it. In the desert, I could see how it really moved.

That's the point of being a Stealth airplane....not being easy to see.

Once I reach commander, can I charter a B-2?
I didn't see that one coming. Well played Mr. Albrant... Well played...
