Holding at KEGE

Post by Wayne Pierce »

Our "wonderful" controller at Denver Center put me in a hold, see picture. I was first in line of our GFI with more than 30 miles in front of the other pilots. I got the luck of the draw for the hold tonight. See,..... all the AAV training paid off with the hold technique. My flight is the blue dotted line starting at the bottom left.
PS. the little yellow airplane you can see north of the airfield is Dave Freeman going around.:-)

Here is some information from the Denver ARTCC - Vatsim for KEGE

From the Denver ARTCC SOP's;
Eagle County
Denver Center shall assign the LDA/DME RWY 25 Approach to all EGE arrivals unless otherwise requested by the pilot.Up to two aircraft may be cleared for the LDA/DME RWY 25 Approach at the same time as long as the first aircraft is at or beyond WASHI prior to the second aircraft crossing VOAXA.EGE departures are not authorized when RIL GPS/LILXO transition is in progress until the aircraft passes UYRIG.Denver Center shall abide by the Letter of Agreement between ZDV and EGE ATCT.

Eagle County shall always use runway 25 for arrivals and departures. This never changes regardless of wind or weather. In the event a pilot requests runway 7, the request may only be honored after coordination between Tower and Denver Center AND if no other traffic in the vicinity will be affected. The request shall NOT be honored in instrument conditions.
Even so with this direction. The controller for this flight and time on VATSIM was terribly hard to understand and gave many conflicting instructions. He was not very good.

That guy was just plain rude. I looked him up. He's an instructor with about 300 hours as a controller. I thought about leaving some feedback at ZDV Virtual, but then thought against it. I guess everyone's entitled to a bad night.

I managed to snap a few shots of my experience. It was still a fun flight despite all the anchor marks on the runway :D

Do you mean aside from putting Wayne in a hold for no reason, me on a collision course with somebody, sending David to Canada and Harold into Ohio to set them up for the approach, giving everyone conflicting instructions then being rude about the corrections (despite the fact that his mic made him sound like he had something stuffed in his mouth) and generally screwing the pooch for our entire arrival when we were already mostly in line and separated? We were literally translating his instructions to each other on company voice just to help each other out. LOL
